Primarily the skill of navigating society successfully. The modern requirements for producing a wise man are higher than those for producing the Seven Sages, and the modern requirements for dealing with an individual are higher than those for dealing with an entire population.

A more specific definition of this skill would be the ability to skillfully navigate professional and social terrain. It is currently more difficult to cultivate a single intelligent man than it was in the past to cultivate seven sages, and it is currently more difficult to deal with a single individual than it was in the past to deal with an entire nation.
